Remember when I suggested (well, maybe more than just suggested) that construction attorneys from Virginia and close by should attend the 46th Annual Construction and Public Contracts Law seminar in Charlottesville? Well, the seminar was last week and it was a blast.
The topics ranged from AI (something an “experienced” construction lawyer like me likely won’t completely embrace) to legal writing (helpful even for someone a seasoned as I am) to copyright and how to deal with a DPOR license complaint. The choice of topics was a great one because it added some new stuff while keeping some of the bread and butter. The planning committee did a good job this year and the staff at VACLE had it running well. (As an aside, if you attended and have feedback on possible future topics, I will be chairing the planning committee so please let me know your thoughts).
As always, the 12 hours of CLE (including 2 hours of ethics) was only part of the benefit of attendance. I always learn something new when talking with fellow practitioners at the cocktail hour, at breakfast, or during breaks. I also greatly enjoy meeting new friends and catching up with others that I’ve know for a while, some of whom I only see once a year.
All in all, it was a great seminar. To all the old friends I was able to catch up with: “Great catching up!” To all the new friends I met: “I hope to see you again soon!”
PS- The other benefit is that I always get some good fodder for Construction Law Musings, so stay tuned.
As always, I welcome your comments below. Please subscribe to keep up with this and other Construction Law Musings.
