Thoughts on construction law from Christopher G. Hill, Virginia construction lawyer, LEED AP, mediator, and member of the Virginia Legal Elite in Construction Law

Be Sure to Join Me at this Year’s “Virtual” Construction Law and Public Contracts Seminar

presentation photoIn case you hadn’t heard, there is a virus going around that has thrown us all a “social distancing” curveball.  Most, if not all, large public events have either gone “virtual” or been postponed or canceled.  Luckily, this year’s 41st Annual Construction Law and Public Contracts Seminar is in the former category.

I have discussed the great marketing and learning opportunities to be had at this seminar, usually held at the Boar’s Head Inn in Charlottesville, VA.  This year the focus will be on educational opportunities.  This year the 12 hours of CLE credit (including the all-important 2 hours of ethics) will include topics ranging from trying a construction case to a jury to relationships with in-house counsel to COVID complications on the job site.  I will be co-presenting on recent changes to the Virginia mechanic’s lien statutes at the second of the two sessions.

Even as an experienced construction attorney, I always learn something from the knowledgeable speakers at the seminar.  The topics and presentations are always good to hear whether you are in your first or second year as a construction attorney in Virginia or have been practicing quite a while.

In short, don’t skip this year just because of the virtual nature of the seminar.  I have attended this seminar all but one of the last 12 years and will be speaking and attending this year, keeping the streak alive.  I hope to “see” you there.
