My How Six Years of Musings Can Fly By!

Wow!  It seems like just yesterday that I started this little construction law blog with a two line post on the Blogger platform.  When I posted that announcement six (yes, it’s been 6 years) ago basically on a whim, I had no idea that I would still be posting my “musings” on construction related topics this far in the future.  Now, 6 years, a jump to solo construction practice, and over 600 posts later, Musings is still going strong.

Another Great Construction and Public Contracts Law Seminar Weekend

Name Tag from Construction SeminarAs some of you readers know, I spoke at the 35th Annual Construction and Public Contracts Law Seminar (schedule is linked here) this past weekend.  Aside from the great and flattering opportunity to join my friend Hanna Blake at the front of the room to speak on the topic of payment bond claims (yes the picture is my name tag from the event), I had a chance to sit and listen to some of my fellow construction lawyers and colleagues speak on the “nuts and bolts” of everything from mechanic’s lien claim prosecution to claims against the federal government and (one of my favorite topics) dispute resolution.

Be Sure to Check out This Fall’s Annual Construction Law Seminar

Are you a Virginia construction attorney?  Would you like to knock out a full year of CLE credit (including Ethics) in one fell swoop?  Want to have a great time meeting and networking with some of the best construction attorneys in Virginia?  Want to hear me speak along with friend and fellow Construction Law and Public Contracts Section board member Hanna Blake on the topic of payment bond claims?

If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, be sure to sign up for and attend the 35th Annual Construction and Public Contracts Law Seminar at the Boar’s Head Inn in Charlottesville, Virginia.  I have attended this conference almost every year for the last five years and learn something new and meet someone that becomes a friend every time.   The faculty is always great and the social events are always fun.  Check out the link above to get a feel for the program this year, I think it will be a good one.

Finally, if you decide to come, be sure to say hello.  If you’re an old friend, I look forward to catching up.  If you’re new to the conference, I’d love to meet you and introduce you around.

As always, I welcome your comments below.  Please subscribe to keep up with this and other Construction Law Musings.

My weekend started with my first fall Board of Governors meeting and dinner.  I got to meet some folks whom I knew of but hadn’t met in person as well as some old friends and past chairs of the section.  This fun evening was followed by a program/CLE relating to troubled projects from numerous perspectives.

The program was informative and timely given the state of the construction economy and the fact that so many construction projects are troubled or have a high potential for trouble. Continue reading Musings on a Great Construction Law Weekend
